The Metaullics STAR Degassing System consists of a drive unit, control panel, optional lift, and optional flux injection vessel.

The drive has been re-designed to incorporate reliability features so that customers can concentrate on making castings, not servicing auxiliary equipment:

• 1/2 hp electric drive, superior timing belt-driven, 90 VDC control, withdual voltage capability (115/220V), specified at time of order
• completely pre-wired for "plug 'n' operate" installation with a multi-pin connector supplied by Metaullics
• compact, powder coated, no-tools easy-access NEMA enclosure with lift lugs
• wide-spaced dual bearings for best stability and drive shaft concentricity
• external lubrication fittings for the bearings
• highly insulating drive support heat shield
• powerful blower to provide cool air to motor even in themost hostile furnace well or ladle conditions
• direct reading rpm signal for accurate speed determination
• gas feed to shaft through industry-standard Dublein rotary union

And featuring the patented Shur-Lok* coupling:

The all-new STAR Degasser lift system can be supplied as a stand-alone, batch-treat fixed ladle station; furnace mounted with an adapter plate for continuous or intermittent melting or holding furnace degassing; or cart-mounted for mobile degassing service.

Metaullics offers two standard control panel options:

1. a basic control panel for simple manual operation
2. a plc control capability for more complex operations.

With the latter, various input data signals (cycle count, temperature, etc) can be integrated into the system with expandable expansion boards for these or other specialized functions.

Metaullics produces all degassing shafts with a proprietary, oxidation resistance treatment which significantly extends graphite life. Actual production experience shows life improvement of 30-100% depending on specific operating conditions. In certain applications, Metaullics' own MACTM ceramic sleeves or other material enhancements may be applied for greater wear resistance.

The patented STAR Rotor** achieves greater degassing efficiency, usually in less time than rotors/impellers of other configurations.

And of course all shafts are configured to fit with the advantaged Shur-Lok coupling!
