Metaullics Systems introduced the cartridge filter concept in the late 1960's, then shared it with an affiliate company, TKR of Japan. TKR, no longer associated with Metaullics Systems, has established this technology as the superior form of filtration in Japan. Today the bonded-particle cartridge filter is growing in popularity worldwide. It offers wrought aluminum casters the ultimate in filtration capability for producing high value-added end products in such areas as can stock, foil, litho sheet, memory disc, bright trim and aircraft components. Cartridge filter technology is based on the same concepts employed in heat tranfer - establishing a high surface area in the smallest possible footprint. In this case, a high filter media surface. For molten metal filtration capability, the high surface area afforded by the cartridge tube bundle permits a much finer filter media to be employed for a given casting flow rate, vs. other forms of filter devices. Thus a very high filtration efficiency can be achieved. The finest grade filters(24 grit) are fully capable of removing virtually all particulates down to 5 microns. The MCF tube bundles are assembled into ceramic end plates by Metaullics. Preheat required for uniform priming and thermal equilibrium is usually 24 hours for an 18-tube bundle. Smaller bundles may be adequately preheated in 8 to 16 hours or less. For optimal priming and subsequent performance, preheat maximum temperature soak should be nearly as high as the anticipated incoming molten metal temperature. |
Metaullics actively adheres to Total Quality Management (TQM) in the production of every Metaullics Cartridge Filter. Metaullics Cartridge Filter Tubes and assemblies are produced to exacting standards with full traceability on all raw materials and manufacturing process steps. Complete dimensioning, visual inspection, strength, and permeability testing assure you'll receive the highest quality cartridge filters possible.
