October 24, 2001 Metaullics Systems Co., L.P., a leading manufacturer of process equipment and systems for the aluminum and zinc industries, has received certification for ISO 9001. This follows a rigorous two year effort to put in place and document quality systems in 20 different areas ranging from design, manufacturing, and customer service in both of Metaullics' U.S. manufacturing facilities. On-site audits were conducted by a team of auditors from TÜV Management Services of Danvers MA.
The company has been actively working toward ISO certification since the completion of Competitive Manufacturing which was implemented in August 1999. All employees in the company have received extensive work-related training in both competitive manufacturing and ISO quality systems.
Customer benefits of the changes at Metaullics have been seen with significant increases in on-time delivery. The company's new design control process has already yielded two successful products, Tensor series pumps for non-ferrous metals and self-aligning bearings for the galvanizing market.
Corporate-wide implementation was directed by Metaullics' management representative Dave Eichenmiller, Corporate Engineering and Quality Manager. Dave commented on the certification "Metaullics recognizes our customers' need for quality assurance and is proud to have achieved certification from TÜV, a world leader in quality system registration. It took a company wide effort to accomplish this and every one of our employees took part in the effort."
